Welcome to the XMDb REST API documentation. This API provides access to comprehensive movie, TV show, and people data from XMDb.

How to get an API Key?

Contact the API administrator to get your API key. Once you have it, enter it above to start testing the endpoints.

Movies - Get Movie Details

Get comprehensive information about a movie or TV show including cast, crew, ratings, and more.

GET /api/v1/movies/{movie_id}

People - Get Person Details

Get detailed information about actors, directors, and other film industry professionals including biography, filmography, awards, and personal information.

GET /api/v1/people/{person_id}

Search - Search Movies & People

Search for movies, TV shows, and people by name. Returns a list of matching results with basic information and images.

TV Series - Get Seasons & Episodes

Get comprehensive season and episode information for TV series. Supports filtering by season number, year, or top rated episodes.

Videos - Get Movie Videos

Get trailers, clips, behind-the-scenes, and other video content for a movie or TV show. Includes multiple quality options and video metadata.

GET /api/v1/videos/{movie_id}

Reviews - Get Movie Reviews

Get user reviews for a movie or TV show with ratings, helpfulness votes, and full review text. Supports pagination and sorting options.

GET /api/v1/reviews/{movie_id}

Images - Get Movie Images

Get poster and still images for a movie or TV show. Includes image dimensions and captions.

GET /api/v1/images/{movie_id}

Poster - Get Movie Poster

Get high-quality poster for a movie or TV show with optional custom width and quality settings.

GET /api/v1/poster/{movie_id}

Parameters

quality	integer	No	Quality percentage 1-100

Tip: Leave width and quality empty to get the original high-quality poster. Use width for responsive images and quality to balance file size vs. visual quality.

Posters - Get Multiple Posters

Get posters for multiple titles at once.

GET /api/v1/posters

Parameters

Note: You can request up to 50 posters in a single request. Width and quality parameters apply to all posters.

Connections - Sequels, Prequels, Remakes & References

Get title relationships such as sequels, prequels, remakes, spin-offs, references and more. Filter by one or more category, or omit the filter to receive every connection type with its category label.

GET /api/v1/connections/{movie_id}

Parameters

Get upcoming movies, TV series and episodes — the same data that backs the XMDb calendar page. Supports date-range filtering, region override, and pagination.
